Temporal Organization

Guiding Questions:

What does time management mean? How can we make the most of our time?

How are time management, organization, and stress related?

Elevator Pitch:

The following video provides some advice for students to help them stay organized. In your journal create a 45 second "elevator pitch" describing the three most effective methods of maintaing organization as a high school student. You will then share this pitch with the class.

Class Discussion:

1. What is time management?

2. Why is this important in school? In life?

3. Describe a person who has excellent time managment skills?

4. Describe a person in your life who has poor time management skills?

5. What methods have you used in the past to help with time management?

Stations Activity:

Around the room you will see a series of stations (chart paper) outling a time management dilemma experienced by Felicity. At each station you are expected to use your time management skills to help Felicity get control of her life. In pairs you will progress through these stations working collaboratively to implement time management strategies. Once the designated time has elapsed and you have visited all stations, we will discuss each station as a class.

Creating a Time Management Commitment:

You are to create a contractual commitment to "stay organized" this school year. In your contract you are to identify the following:

 - the method of time management you will use

- the method of material management you will use

- the time you will dedicate daily or weekly to organizing your materials, space, and time

- consequences you will impose on yourself for not following through on your contract
