Learning Skills Digital Toolbox (15%)
Purpose:
Throughout this project students will:
-
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the learning skills that are most effective for them
-
Use planning, processing, and critical/creative thinking in creating a “toolbox” website which displays their research and use of most effective learning strategies
-
Make connections between strategy use and depth of learning,
Task:
-
Throughout the year you will be researching different learning strategies and creating products that represent the use of those strategies. You are expected to create a digital portfolio “website” showcasing all the strategies that you have researched and used.
-
For each of the strategies you include, you will also create a reflection indicating the challenges you faced, the success you had, how the strategy will help you in the future, and what you learned about yourself through the experience.
Process:
The following is the processes used to complete this project:
-
Create a wix account (free website creation program)
-
Choose your template
-
Set your title (My Learning Skills Toolbox)
-
Set up your pages (Home, Me as a Learner, Organization, Note-Taking, Studying, Reading, Writing, Pot Purri)
-
Create your philosophy of learning (to be placed on the home page)
-
Collect artifacts and display them in the appropriate pages
-
Reflect on the artifacts
NOTE:
To minimize your digital footprint, you are not allowed to include any personal identifiers (your name, pictures of yourself, school name, personal information, etc) in your website.
In addition, you are not to "publish" the website until it has been approved by your teacher.
