Gr. 9 Learning Strategies
Welcome to the Gr. 9 Learning Strategies Class
This year we are going to focus on honing your skills as learners, and developing your intrinsic motivation through autonomy, mastery, and purpose. Some of the skills we will be learning throughout the year will be: organizing materials, space, and time; taking notes in various situations; engaging in efficient study strategies, employing reading strategies for different types of texts, and using the writing process to produce excellent pieces. In addition, we will be examining who we are as learners and as people, and we will determine how this impacts your learning and your approach to learning.
For your Independent Study Project you will be investigating your future vocation. Through an examination of your strengths, weaknesses, personality, gifts, and talents you will be identifying a potential career that fits who you are as a person and as a learner. In addition, you will also be keeping Learning Logs focused on your changing perspectives about learning and your approach to learning.
You job throughout this course will be to: 1) be open to learning, 2) be ready for some hard work, and 3) enjoy the journey!
