Locker Organization

Reviewing Organization: The

           Mystery Box Activity

As a class let's review the following:

- what is organization?

- what skills do you need to be organized?

The class will be divided into pairs. Each pair will receive a box of materials. Your task will be to work cooperatively to organize the material into the desired product. Although you are working together, one person must be the recorder to record the steps that you take to organize the materials, and the other person must be the timekeeper to ensure that the task is completed in time.

Mystery Box Debrief:

Once the time has elapsed, each pair will be presenting their product to the class. You will need to explain your steps and the audience is asked to provoke learning through questions only.

After all pairs have made their presentations, we will review the skills involved in organization and answer the following question:

How can this exercise help us keep our lockers organized?

Can we use the process that you all outlined through this activity for our lockers?

If so what would they look like?

What are the criteria to ensure an organized locker?

Locker Organization Rubric

From our previous discussion we will design our locker organization rubric.  As a class we will identify four categories that are part of locker organization. Students will each be assigned a category and for that category they will identify a level 1, 2, 3, 4 trait. Students will use sticky notes to write out these traits and then paste these sticky notes to the corresponding chart paper located around the room. As a class we will discuss each level and add any ideas we create as a class.

Field Trip

We will then head to our lockers and organize them according to the rubric we have created together.
